Advice on family trip to Chaa Creek or Blancaneaux in Feb.?

Hi,

Thank you to all of you who post answers here; this forum is a fantastic resource.

We are planning our first trip to Belize this February. We are travelling with our 2 and 5 year old, and would like to spend a few days at Blancaneaux or Chaa Creek, and a few on the beach. May I ask for any advice on the following?

1. Which would you recommend, Chaa Creek or Blancaneaux? Are they both welcoming to children, and is there plenty to do during the day for the kids in both places? Are they equally good in terms of food and accomdation quality?

2. We are very concerned about the rapes/robberies in San Igancio. Would you bring children to this area? Have the incidents decreased in frequency?

3. We have heard that it can get very cold in February (into the fifties). Is this usual? Are those just nighttime temps? Could the kids be in t-shirts during the day in this area?

4. Which beach resort would you recommend for a family? We are gravitating towards Victoria House. Thoughts?

Thank you for your time... We are very excited for our trip!

You might also consider Banyon Bay, Banana Beach, The Palms. All of these offer condos, great for casual meals and snacks. Also, pools and they are kid friendly.

BL and CC are both great, but I think CC is more kid friendly in terms of on premises butterfly breeding, musuem and much easier for a 2 yr old to get to and from the room (BL is built on a hill). Cooler at night at BL, has higher altitude. The ganger leader of the group that rob (and attempted rape) is behind bars. Photos made the rest of the gana bit shy. VH is wonderful and some rooms have kitchens.

I am shocked to hear that it gets that cold. We are going to San Ignatio and Ambergris at the end of March and I am concerned. Can anybody put these fears to rest or otherwise confirm the "cold" part.

Also any advice on Caribbean Villas Hotel with kdis?

its cooler at night in the Mtn Pine Ridge, not in SI. CV is a nice large property with a pool, good value for the money.
