We are planning a trip to Belize in August with my 7 year old boy and 5 year old girl. We would like to spend 3-4 days near the beach, and 3-4 days in the jungle.
We are looking for lodging that:
1) Has many activities on or off site for 5 year olds. Great activities can simply include a nice pool or river to explore. (It appears there are many options at family friendly hotels for my 7 year old and we can split up the family some days, but I want to make sure we have something for the 5 year old too)
2) Have reasonable costs for getting to/from Belize city (perhaps a shuttle or built in price with the lodging package)
3) Have more than one restaurant accessible - or places to walk to that we can pick up groceries or try different places to eat. (We have picky eaters.)
Some of the hotels on my list of options: Black Rock Lodge, Almond Beach, Sleeping Giant, Caves Branch Jungle Lodge, Chaa Creek, Xanadu Island Resort, but I would love other recommendations if they might fit our needs, or advice on whether these are good matches for what we are looking for.
Overall, we prefer smaller intimate resorts, but where we aren't "fenced in" to just the resort - where we can go and explore on foot, bike or with easy accessible transportation, and we prefer quality over "cheap but kid friendly".
Thank you in advance for your advice!
