Getting there

I read about the choices of flying from Intl airport to Ambergris Caye and going to airstrip. Can someone tell me what the current price is to fly one way from each place and what a taxi would cost for 4 from international airport to airstrip.

We leave on the 31st for our first time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Staying on Ambergris Caye for 5 nights in a condo north of bridge. Then 4 nights in Hopkins and then 4 more nights with no plan.

Thanks!

Two domestic airlines have flights to Ambergris Caye. Check the websites for schedules and fares...

a) Maya Island Air, http://www.mayaislandair.com/

b) Tropic Air, http://www.tropicair.com/

After landing at International (and going through Immigration, luggage retrieval & Customs), you simply walk from the arrival area to the departure area of the airport -- you don't even leave the airport terminal so no taxi necessary.

There is another airport in Belize City -- the Municipal airport. For BZ$50 (or US$25), you can get a taxi from Internationnal to Municipal and fly from Municipal. The flights from Municipal are a bit cheaper, but you have to pay the taxi fare to get there.

Too late for an edit...

International is located at Ladyville, about 10 miles from Belize City, while Municipal is right in the City.

The taxi fare is per taxi, not per person, and most taxi can take 4 passengers.

Note to Trip Advisor management...

Why can't you give more time for an edit?

Best bet is the previous mentioned local airlines. Go to their websites. everything is posted. Nice easy way to get where you want to go.
