Found mention of Siesta Key as being perfect for families in Family Circle magazine and was all set to go stay on Crescent Beach this April. Then I read about Anna Maria Island on TA. Now I am all confused!
My kids don't need to be entertained very much; they like to swim and dig at the beach all day. But, I would like for there to be at least *some* other little kids around for them to play with if they want; don't want us to always be the only ones on the beach. Is this likely at AMI?
Considering Cedar Cove (if available). Are there likely to be kids there? Or is it more of a couples place? What is it near? We like to walk to piers; would there be one nearby? Is it within walking distance to any restaurants/ice cream shops/pizza places etc?
Any other places to stay you'd recommend for little kids? Definitely want ON the beach, and a pool. Budget- I'd say tops $1400/6 nights; prefer less, but havent' found less than $1200 on Siesta Key.
How bad is the traffic on and off the island? We would like to take a couple day trips if we stay on AMI- probably to Siesta Key and to Myakka River State Park, or *possibly* to Sarasota to the Mote Aquarium and Bayfront Park. How long of a drive is it generally to these places, and how long are we likely to get stuck in additional traffic??
Has anyone been to both AMI and Siesta Key with little kids who can give me a comparison?
