Coming from UK end of August

Hello we are hoping to fly LA area at the end of August but have now realised that this is when Labour day falls. Do the Schools go back after Labour day in which case would we be better off driving down the coast to San Diego first and return to go to Disneyland before we fly home on the 7th Sept. Thank you for your help.

Yes, you will be better off. Elementary and high school kids will all be back in school.

I hope you plan to visit some attractions in Los Angeles as well as Anaheim and San Diego. L.A., after all, is the second largest city in the U.S. with hundreds of attractions,

Yes we want to do attractions in LA just worried now that it is going to be too busy the first weekend. Delta from Manchester fly into the Atlanta hub so we are trying to find the best Airport to fly into California and out again before spending a few nights in Atlanta and then flying home. Where would we be best flying too from Atlanta ?

Well you could fly Southwest Airlines from ATL to SAN (san Diego) with one change. Fares are good, luggage allowance without charges is good. Use their own website

as they are not on the fare consolidators' websites.

LAX or Burbank airports are also served by Southwest. It depends on where you want to stay. Burbank is a small airport, so easier to deal with instead of LAX with its large size

Yes, Labor Day weekend is very busy at Disneyland. Its a 3 day weekend as well as a Half Marathon at Disneyland. If you can arrange your schedule to be in Disneyland after that time it would be much better crowdwise, and very quiet at Disneyland usually.

However, during weekday in Sept your also going to have shorter hours M-Thurs. usually something like 10am till 8pm with Fireworks and Fantasmic only being on weekends, Fri,Sat,Sun. And longer hours on weekends of around 8am till 12pm. There is usually a nighly World of Color show daily. So you may want to include a weekend day in your visit. Weekends though are always going to be more crowded than weekdays usually.

Usually the Haunted Mansion as well as Space Mountain can be closed during that time to get thier Holiday overlay for Halloweentime.

Halloweentime usually starts around the second Friday in Sept. So very likely Sept 12th for 2014.

There are many non stop flights from ATL to San Diego,SNA(John Wayne Airport) in Orange Count and of course to LAX. I don't think I'd fly Southwest across country unless you have lots of luggage and need its great 2 bags free policy.

Southwest is good for shorter flights. It is our internal airline that is a kinder gentler "Ryan Air" with good customer service and baggage policies. You can only find the prices on their own web site and not on any search engines.

Thank you for all your help. We think we will fly into LAX spend 3 nights in LA before going to Santa Barbara 3 nights then Disneyland 3 nights before going down to San Diego and flying back from there. Loved the comments about Ryan air. The round trip price with Delta for all flights does not seem to bad at the moment and we then wont have to worry about connections in Atlanta if our flight is delayed from UK .

i don't see your specific dates but just be warned...that is a very, very busy weekend and you really need to plan your route and times of driving especially around la. just an example...i once hit la on a long weekend, noon on the friday and what should have been a 3 hour drive, was 5.5 hours. barely left 2nd gear most of those hours.
