My husband and I (mid 50s) plan to visit the last week of July. We'll be driving up from Illinois. I've spent time today looking at various forum. Thanks so much to all for their suggestions. Didn't realize until I started doing my research that Wisconsin is VERY busy at that time. Places we want to go: Milwaukee for Harley plant tour/museum, Lakefront Brewery, perhaps Pabst mansion. I know my husband would enjoy the Maritime Museum in Manitowoc and had penciled in Sheboygan as a nice place along the lake??? Want to go to Oshkosh and I guess we lucked out w/ that being the week with all of the "air" activities. Now I'm concerned how far away we will have to stay? Thought about calling some of the colleges that were listed as having rooms. Also want to take the tour at Lambeau Field but with the Packers just starting training camp will there be any places to stay in Green Bay? Want to go to Door County (sounds great w/ the state parks so we can enjoy the scenery/hike a bit). We hope to be able to go on a sail boat out of some town up there. I'd also like to visit Madison. Should we start in Milwaukee work our way north, or start in Madison on Monday then to Oshkosh, Green Bay, Door County and back down. Like every vacation - once I really starting digging in it seems we're trying to squeeze too much into 5-6 days.
