State park/ interesting town in the northern part of West Vi

Hi everyone. My husband and I have pretty much fallen in love with the BlackWater Falls/ Davis/ Thomas/ Canaan Valley area. We have visited twice in the past six months so as much as I would like to return, am looking at other (closer to home) places in West Virginia to travel the last weekend in February. I have called the lodge at Tygert Lake and bed and breakfasts in Berkely Springs and there is availability in both these places. I prefer to keep this trip closer to home (pittsburgh) as we only have a Friday and Saturday (when going to Blackwater we take three nights to make it worthwhile but it is just not possible this time). Harper's Ferry is a bit too far for us this time although that is the type of place we are interested in. We like outdoor activities like hiking and photography primarily (if near a ski resort we enjoy that but it is not necessary for this trip). We also would like good food, perhaps microbreweries. My concern is that there might not be enough to do in either of the above mentioned places in winter. I am just looking for feedback on those two places or suggestions of somewhere else I may have overlooked. Thank you.

What about Oglebay Park? They apparently have ski slopes... (I've never been there in the winter.)

In warmer weather, I have to Oglebay for several day trips and once for an overnight trip, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express at Exit 10 since i had a free night to burn.

Tygart Lake is pretty, but there is nothing to do in that area in the Winter. I'd definitely look into Oglebay Resort in Wheeling like Mike pointed out. Oglebay's ski slopes are small, but there is so much to do there and plenty of good dining in Wheeling. http://www.oglebay-resort.com/

Though it is not in West Virginia, I would highly recommend the Deep Creek Lake area in Maryland. WISP ski resort is there, along with plenty of good food and entertainment. Oakland is close by for antiques, crafts, and other good restaurants. It is off of interstate 68, and would be a good drive from Pittsburgh. http://www.deepcreeklake.com/

And don't forget your own backyard! Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is beautiful. They have a ski lodge, skiing, tubing, great dining, a casino, a spa, and so much more. And the prices are unbelievably lower than most ski areas. http://www.nemacolin.com/

Several other nice restaurants and shops along Route 40, just outside of Nemacolin.
