hotel in DC

I will be in DC April 25-26 and would like a modest hotel in a good area to take a tour or walk the sights. I will have 2 bikes that will need to be put in the hotel room.

Look at the top right under Top Questions and then you can ask a more specific question. No one knows what you mean by "modest" and DC hotel prices vary greatly from day to day, which is why a date is needed.

We've had good luck with the Key Bridge Marriott. It's literally just over the bridge from the Georgetown section of D.C.

On a nice spring morning, it's a pleasant walk across the bridge for a croissant and coffee at Dean and DeLuca in Georgetown. The Rosslyn metro stop is a very short walk from there. Use this site to see how long your subway ride would be to the Smithsonian, McPherson Square station (to take pictures outside the White House and buy a souvenir "FBI" shirt from a street vendor), Arlington Cemetery and Judiciary Square (for the National Building Museum.)

There also are hotels near the Crystal City metro stop that can be less expensive; that's a little further from D.C. but still fine.

With bikes, Rosslyn's a particularly good base because you can coast downhill to get on the trail that follows the Potomac River. Stop at Gravelly Point to watch planes take off and keep going all the way to George Washington's House at Mount Vernon if you're so inclined.
