My husband and I will be in Washington, D.C. from Dec. 13-16. We are attending a holiday celebration at the Library of Congress, as I am one of the artists who painted an ornament for their Christmas tree. We require a clean hotel, reasonably priced and located in a safe part of town. We have booked a room at the Holiday Inn Downtown (in the Thomas Circle area). Is this area safe, or are we better off in the Dupont Circle area? In looking at the map, it is hard to tell how far the Metro stations are away from our hotel. We don't mind walking and will certainly be wearing comfy footwear, as we plan on seeing as much as possible in our short time there. We're not big night-clubbers so nightlife isn't important, but we would like to be close to good restaurants.
Any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
