The hotel is on I-610 ("the west loop"). The only thing that's really within walking distance is a Greek restaurant called YaYa Mary's, which is probably a quarter mile. Otherwise, you have to get over to either Post Oak Blvd or Westheimer to find restaurants--either way, you're looking at a minimum of a half-mile walk, unless there's a pathway that cuts through between the hotel's back lot and one of the restaurant's lots on Post Oak Blvd. (In other words, as the crow flies, it's not that far, but access is the problem.) You'll be much better off driving to any of a very large number of restaurants of all price ranges within a mile of your hotel, but practically none within walking distance unless you REALLY enjoy walking.

As for entertainment, there is a little live music in some of the restaurants' bars. What did you have in mind as far as entertainment goes?

A suggestion would be to re-post this question in the Houston forum--you'll probably get more responses.

The Sheraton is in a very pedesterian friendly area right around the corner from the Galleria and you also have 3 other choices before you get to Galleria parking lot which you have to walk across to enter the mall. Just google these and look at their websites.

Walk out the front door of the Sheraton and take a right onto the sidewalk, a few 100 ft or so you will come to red light interesection of Westheimer with a big Shell gas/conv. store across the street. Don't cross. Just turn right again and you will be walking past some shops and come to another light which is Post Oak Blvd.. Keep going straight and walk across the intersection and up ahead on your right is a big strip center with shopping and 3 restaurants:

Grand Lux (like the Cheesecake Factory)

Morton's Steakhouse (very expensive)

Canyon Cafe (good menu)

No, to those? Then you are at another red light so from the Grand Lux red light go across Westheimer and into the parking lot of The Galleria and you will find tons of quick order at the counter places or full menu restaurants like the Cheesecake Factory. Here is Galleria website:

Total one way walk should be about a mile, but inside Galleria you will tack on a couple more.

Bars? These first two would be a left on Westheimer i/o the right you took to get to Grand Lux.

Bars at the Galleria will be:

Chili's (chain)
