Multnomah Falls Trail temporarily blocked off

Oregon's number one tourist attraction suffered a little damage, caused by nature, and has resulted in the trail to the top of the falls to be blocked off for safety.

News info here: kptv.com/story/24410598/falling-boulder-smas…

A boulder took a chunk out of the picturesque bridge crossing over the stream at the bottom. Engineers have blocked off the trail until repair is made.

You can still go to the falls and the lodge and related businesses are all open, but for now... No hiking to the top.

We go to the falls several times a year and will probably go this weekend anyway. It still will be a beautiful thing to see even without hiking to the top which I can't do anyway! :)

Thanks Noah. I actually came to see if anyone posted the info. Kind of off topic, there was a video link in the Oregonian story oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.… It was a segment of what turns out to be a whole series of "accessible adventures" videos for travelers with mobility issues. Might come in handy for someone who has questions later ... www.fs.usda.gov/detail/r6/specialplaces/…

In the category of silver linings, at least the photographers will like it better without people on the bridge.

(It is too late today), but tomorrow from 7:30 to 12:30 you can watch eagles at the **Dam Eagles+++ annual event at The Dalles Dam.

Our weather seems like it is better than it was to be. I am guessing there will be such big crowds at Multnomah Falls between lookers and workers and heavy equipment and news trucks..

There's lots to do in the CRGNSA. Even drive on the Washington side until you get past Bonnyville Dam.

Best,

MrsO

Yes, they are hoping to get it done by then. There has been a change-up with Rangers there so they are in the process of working on things.
