Oregon Coast road trip

Oregon Coast road trip

My boyfriend and I are thinking about doing a road trip from Vancouver, B.C., down to the Oregon coast this summer (probably June or July). The total trip will probably be about 5 or 6 days, with about 3 or 4 of those days in Oregon. I have absolutely NO knowledge about what the "must see" places are to see. Any advice? We're both in our early twenties and enjoy beaches, hiking, any other form of adventure recreation, animals, great food, and the occasional museum.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, June is less busy, but the weather in July is more reliably dry. July 4th weekend is the busiest weekend of the year so avoid it is possible!

You'll probably want to stay on the north coast - there is lots of hiking around Cannon Beach (Ecola SP) and Neahkahnie Mountain. Lots of nice beaches everywhere.

There are also several nice day use state parks with a bit of hiking/walking.

Hug Point is historic... tripadvisor.com/Travel-g51790-c151280/Cannon…

Cannon Beach has a nice little museum; there is a good outdoor logging museum 18 miles inland from Hwy 101 on Hwy 26:

Drawbacks - Cannon Beach is very busy and is also upscale and pricey. What sorts of lodging are you looking for? And what price range?

If you're into "sort of" camping, this place has rustic cabins (scroll down page) :

Manzanita is a bit south and has a great beach and a motel across a quiet street from it. Nothing fancy, but decently priced... http://www.sunsetsurfocean.com/

Are you thinking of staying in one spot?

If you go to Astoria, there is the Maritime Museum. We just attended the grand opening of a new exhibit there this past Fri. night called TATOO Art of the Sailor, very interesting and fun exhibit. There is also the Flavel House and Heritage Museums there. www.oldoregon.com is a nice website for the area.

Astoria has lots of great places to dine, also. Drina Daisy, Fulio, Silver Salmon Grille, Bridgewater Bistro and Ship Inn are a few of our favorites there. Have a great trip! :)

Syrah, how long since you've eaten at the Ship Inn?
