Global Escapes / Global Explorer? |

We went to a "presentation" last night (in Eden Prairie MN) for a company called Global Escapes. They do kind of a timeshare type of presentation, but what they're selling is access to their website that offers timeshare, hotel and condo reservations all over the country and USA at reduced rates. They charge nearly $7000 for this access! You become a "member" then you have access to make these types of accomodations. The problem was that they refused to show us the live website - they would just show screen shots during a slide show type of presentation. We did not buy, although several folks did. When we got home we looked for information on the internet and found nothing. Neither did their website exist where they said it did (www.globalescapes.net) Has anyone heard of this company or purchased from them? Are they legitimate? Any info would be greatly appreciated! BEWARE!! I attended Global Escapes 'seminar' on Friday, October 26, 2007. I was sold on the company's offer for low cost vacations and free trip incentives. When I returned home, I looked the company up online (should have done that prior) and sure enough here they are on the RIP-OFF REPORT. The salespeople are really convincing and professional. They are knowledgable, friendly, and very persuasive. I should have known better. I signed up for a software package costing $4,000.00. I'm cancelling the auto bank draft I established with Global Escapes that night. The $250 deposit check I wrote will also be cancelled. It appears that the company can not deliver based on the prior victims' testimonies. I wouldn't waste time with this company, especially if there's a pending class action lawsuit against them. Texas, we can stop scammers like these! I fell victim of a crime under FCC Regulation of being called on a cell phone by the use of a automatic dialer through a company by the name of West Star Advertising which is owned or hired by Global Escapes. I've read about a lot of people being contacted via cell phone for promotions that are corrupt. I filed complaints with proper authorities and I plan to print out this list and attend the seminar I was invited to and make sure everyone is aware of the illegal activities in which they are related to. Did you receive your travel vouchers from CERTS? I just went to a presentation (I didn't buy anything) and was given a voucher for two round trip airfares. Just like you stated, I need to send them $50 per person. I am very skeptical and would appreciate your feedback. Report as inappropriate

Remember, folks, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There is no such thing as a free lunch... Report as inappropriate

We bought this program summer of O6. They do not have the inventory they claim. They contract with Monterey Financial to collect money for the program, based on what you sign up for as far as a membership. I STRONGLY urge you to not make the mistake my wife and I did. This company has no infrastructure!!! They do not call people back. They set-up in states to market for a short period of time, and then they move their offices around. I have no idea how they continue to dodge their unhappy and unsatisfied clients. Buy at your own risk and headache!!!! Report as inappropriate

My wife and I attended a Global Escapes presentation here in San Antonio, TX last night. Just as all the other posters wrote, this deal is a scam. Even though I had never heard of Global Escapes, I figured it was a scam, but we went for the "free" gifts. The presentation took nearly two hours. The speaker and other people there were very slick speakers...they had obviously practiced these selling tactics numerous times. The latest from the BBB: they are not a member of the BBB, and here's a quote on them from the BBB's web site: "Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record of complaints and has failed to correct the underlying reason for the complaints." Link is here: www.centraltx.bbb.org/commonreport.html… Scam tip-offs: 1. The telemarketing calls would never say the name of the company. We only discovered the Global Escapes name after we arrived at the presentation. This appears to be a change to their tactics as the word about Global Escapes is getting out. 2. Their hard-sell tactic that you had to pay right then. After we told them they weren't interested, they kept lowering the price to try and get us to give them some money before we left. The free gifts we got were a cruise (that requires a deposit), a "reservation for a free dinner" that requires you to first register with some company in FL, then send your receipt from a restaurant in, and then you'll be reimbursed for the dinner within 6-8 weeks...yeah, right. The last free gift was a $50 Macy's gift card. We'll have to see if there's actually $50 on the card. That's really what drove us to go, because I kind of knew the "free cruise" was a scam. Buyer beware....I'd never spend that much money with a company I had never heard of and had done no research on. Report as inappropriate
