I came across your post from years ago on having lost your ESTA application number to enter the US. I somehow forgot to print off mine so I have to reapply. Your post above was very useful - just wondering did everything work out OK in the end when you travelled?

hi tululah, the application is free, and in the end it was no problem, they don't seem to care if you have 2 applications in the system, they never even asked mt about them at U.S. customs

I am a bit confused here. we fly on 5th with virgin and I completed our details a few weeks back on the virgin atlantic website through manage my booking. Am I supposed to get something back? have not seen an application number or do I need to comeplete a totally separate form before we go?????

I did my forms online and didn't even print them off, didn't make a note of the refernce number either. We entered the US this June without a second thought and nobody even mentioned the ESTAs. The number is tied up with your passport so they have all the information to hand as soon as you hand your passport over.

it is a bit disconcerting alright that you don't get anything back from ESTA to confirm that your application is ok (like the way you usually get an email these days when you purchase flights or products online). But don't worry you don't have to know your application number or have a print out of your form. I actually applied 3 times because first time I forgot to record my application number (which it turns out doesn't matter), second time I mixed up the first name and surname fields which then couldn't be changed, 3rd time got it right and printed off application. The customs guy didn't say a word to me, he was more concerned with getting my fingerprints right on their new electronic scanner.

We got confirmation that we were accepted to travel in to the US - I can't remember if the message popped up after the applications were submitted or whether I got an email

I am flying on Monday 16th November to New York and have filled in my ESTA form incorrectly. My city of boarding is London but I put New York, where I am landing, please can someone advise me what I should do.
