info on area please (Venice)

A late booking to meet up with travelling son in venice on the 8th November for 5 days. I have a rental property in mind in Brooks Ct near the junction of Main Street/ Abbot KInney. There are no reviews on the property but it looks okay and is 'cheap'. I'm just wondering if this area is okay?

I have a hold on property until 29th Oct!!

The area is kind of meh. Sure, Abbot Kinney is nice but that's on the other side of Main Street. They'll be a lot of traffic especially people looking for places to park -- which is very difficult in the area. If you plan to have a car, make sure the property has parking included.

How cheap is 'cheap'?

thank you for your reply. the cost is 620 usd for 4 nights. I don't plan to have a car but there is parking at the property and bikes! Meh - means so, so? not too bad? not good? The property is actually in Brooke Avenue.

So, so.

Venice, on the whole, is a tired, gritty 'urban beach area'. There are a few attractive areas like Abbot Kinney but, as you'll see, there isn't much charm to the area -- although it can be artsy and a little colorful on the boardwalk/strand.

$155 per night anywhere in L.A., on such short notice, is a good value. If it were me, though, I'd stay somewhere else but you'd have to pay $50 or so more, to do so. For example, Comfort Inn Santa Monica is available through the hotel's website for $149 per night which includes breakfast and a swimming pool. The rooms have queen or king size beds (not 'double' beds which are smaller).

The hotel is located 2 miles inland (away from the beach). There are buses every few minutes for the 12 or 13 minute ride to Santa Monica's city center/beach. Venice is just south of Santa Monica.

If you're pinching pennies, the Brooks property would be okay -- just okay.
