CA road trip in April

Hello,

We planned a road trip around CA and Las Vegas in April. Our calendar is as follows:

18-23 Apr: Los Angeles

22-25 Apr: San Diego

25-30 Apr: Las Vegas

What do you think of this program? Do you think we need to shift days?

How will the weather be like on these dates in these cities?

And finally, we are open for any other advice. Thanks!

Obviously this is a city trip and no time for places like Joshua Tree NP, Mojave National Preserve, Grand Canyon and Death Valley NP. It all depends on what you want to do and see in the cities. Are you driving between LA and SD april 22 or 23? Personally I' spend more time in LA and SD than in Las Vegas but we all are different. That said there are many places around Las Vegas worth a visit like Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Valley of Fire SP and Red Rock.

Hi ali o

Remember to consider the local time when you're posting. At 1:03 am on a Wednesday morning, most folks in California are fast asleep!

Let us know more about your travel style so we can offer advice. What kinds of things do you like to do? Will you be renting a car? Any interest in natural beauty or just cities?

Hey there, thanks PacificNW. You're actually right. I didn't think of that.

First of all, we will have a car. We are three 23-year old men and we want to have fun to be honest. Natural beauties interest us too of course. We are willing to travel 100-150 mile distances as well. (Such as Palm Springs, etc...)

Thanks!

13 days / 12 nights in late April, 3 young adults (likely paying an additional fee for the underage drivers), want a road trip in California plus Las Vegas

Fly into SFO. Stay SF 3 nights. Fast drive to Monterey, slower drive enjoying scenic beauty of Big Sur, stay Pismo Beach 1 night. Continue coastal drive to Santa Barbara, on to L.A. Stay 3 nights. Drive to San Diego, stay 2 nights. Drive to Palm Springs (requested), stay 1 night. Finish in Las Vegas, 2 nights.

If you just want to focus your time on Southern California & have a bit of scenery, LAX - L.A. - San Diego - Palm Springs - South Rim of Grand Canyon NP - Las Vegas - LAS

There is good info in the Top Questions in the upper right. Check the Top Q on the Las Vegas page and the Los Angeles page as well.

Asking Strangers to plan your vacation imho is not the best way to make it fun for you. If we are planning a trip to your country just saying we want to visit 3 cities won't help you help us. It would be good to read some online guides and get to know the West. Perhaps you are going to make this an annual visit. But most people may not come back so try and make this a trip based on what you want to see and not what we would like you to see.

If you want to have fun, it all depends on what fun means and how you describe as fun. For some fun is surfing or hiking or mountain climbing, for others it is spending the day in a Museum, others may want to just ride roller coasters or just go bar hopping and dancing -- and everyone who comes to Ca wants to see Stars (not the ones in the sky)

and you can do it all. PNWF has given you some great ideas. and with some homework and some reading you can have a great time

The OP posted on march 3rd and the post got lost or perhaps was too vague for a reply until it was bumped up.
