We went with Princes Cruises last year, if you want to do a land tour after your cruise which I would recommend they have there own trains, hotels in Alaska and the transfers where effortless considering people were going in all different ways after the cruise.

No need to carry cases around as they are all taken care of only hand luggage you need to take with you. Plus Princess Cruises go right up to Whittier and it is a lovely train journey up to Denali

If you want to see this part of Alaska

any recommendations for us about cruise ship or Alaska?

You need to give us more than that. When, for how long, your interests, budget (more less).

Alaska is a big state with many things to see and do. You can spent a year and won't see everything you want to see.

There are a huge number of options now, so your personal preferences (and budget) are what will make a particular cruise right for you. My favourite in Alaska so far has been the Radiance of the Seas. The photos and reviews at places such as http://YourAlaskaCruise.com/ and http://CruiseCritic.com/ will help you narrow down the choices and then we can help you fine-tune those. In Alaska, excursions are the key to getting the best experience, though, and some of those are spendy.

You really do need to do some research, decide on some options that might work for your interests and budget and then ask specific questions that we can help with.

Hi elaineCork. You might read through a few of the posts on these forums to find either trip reports or see what other people are planning to do on their upcoming trips, to see what interests you.

Otherwise, we'd just be making wild guess what you'd like to do. Are you looking for an active trip, or a quiet retreat to celebrate your honeymoon? Do you like fishing, hiking, kayaying, museums, wildlife, marine life, glaciers, goldpanning, etc? Any place you particularly want to go: Denali, Fairbanks, Anchorage, Valdez, Homer, Seward, or a romantic getaway at a lodge somewhere? Will you be driving (car or RV) or relying on public transport?

So do a little reading, then when you have a few ideas, come back and we'll be glad to help you with them. :-)
