Where to stay- Tavira. Cabanas, Luzia

Been to Alvor- loved it. Going to Algarve for 14 nights. Should we base ourselves in Tavira, Cabanas or octopus village. Couple 40s love eating out, bars, pool and seeing culture/history. Dont mind splitting stay over 2 places.

Split between Tavira and Santa Luzia, you'll love it!

Personally don't think it's worth splitting, particularly if you have a car. Not worth the hassle of packing up and moving on. Santa Luzia is only a 10 minute drive from Tavira, as is Cabanas in the other direction.

cabanas is small and not so special.

Tavira is a interesting city and a great beach at the island.

I don't know santa luzia but is also possible to go to the same island.

For us it's Cabanas all the way. St Lucia is much smaller with less facilities and Tavira ia a town, well worth visiting for day trips, a taxi can be got to there for about €8 to €10 each way, or it can be walked across the Eco Via in about 50 to 60 minutes. Or there are buses to Tavira for around €2 each way. With over 22 restaurants/cafes not counting the bars i think you will enjoy your stay in Cabanas.

Santa Luzia is very romantic and there are very good restaurants (all of them!) And Castro Marim is also a visit worth !

We went 2 weeks in Tavira last summer and we felt in love with it !

If you want 2 very good eating adresses : O'Porto and O Patio .

Enjoy it !

For us it's also Cabanas all the way! Such a relaxed place ... For dinner we often drive to Tavira but we love the quietness and the beach of Cabanas. Praia Verde is great, too, if you like (very) quiet.

Cabanas every time - it is quiet, lots of places to eat. Magnificent beach. However, we love Tavira and Sta Luzia too. You can't go wrong here really. Email us if you want our list of suggested things to do...
