We are thinking of going to Budapest for 3 or 4 days in late September. Can anyone suggest any good quality hotels and things to do their. Would 4 days be too much ?.What will the weather be like. What is the shopping like ? Is it expensive in food and drink ?

The weather was very pleasant in late Oct so you should be fine, you need at least 4 days, there is so much to do, read past reports, but a few musts are, at least4hr, city tour, gets your bearings of this huge city and shows you the best, The River by night, the baths, again the one in the park by hero's square you need at least 3hrs, Margaret Island the list is endless, great transport system so very easy to get around . We didn't have time to shop, but loads of big store's. Food and drink cheaper than the u.k. It is a wonderful city. Keep looking at the sight for idea's, you will not be bored.

We were in Budapest for 3 days last week, which was not enough to see everything! We stayed at Leo Panzio and loved it. Food and drink are not expensive, but tours are more expensive than many places. For instance, we took the Hammer & Sickle walking tour, which included a trip to Statue Park and the price was about 5500 HUF ($27). The tour was great, though, and worth the price. The Danube Cruise on the Legenda was 4200 HUF/person ($21) and was also wonderful. What kind of shopping will you be doing? Souvenirs, embroidery, cut glass or other? Prices on the Vaci Utca were much higher than those at the Great Market Hall.
