Last year we visited Budapest and stayed in the Sofitel which was really lovely and just round the corner from the main market, The beds were very comfy check out their web site for the details. Next door was the Intercon which looked nice too. The sofitel breakfast was extensive though we never ate there at night. There are a lot of nice restaurants and bars in the area. We chose to eat in the old Town one night and there are some lovely places up there too. We enjoyed our trip to the Childrens Railway if you like views and a bit of an adventure. We booked through Thomson Hotels and got a good deal worth looking around for the best deals. Hope that helps.

I always recommend that the best place to stay, especially in cold weather, is nearby the Opera. So the K+K Opera Hotel is ideal for the following reasons:

1) Close to a wide variety of food options. (upscale Liszt square plus some other notables, American fast food places, Hungarian fast food places, plus a small supermarket is nearby on the corner of Nagymező and Andrássy.

2) Within reasonable walking distance to a good variety of night life and bars. One of the Morrison's pubs is very close to the K+K.

3) Within walking distance to a number of tourism sites.

4) If there is bad weather, the Opera metro stop on the yellow line is very close. From there you can transfer to the other metro lines at Deák.

5) With it's location, it's quick to get back to your hotel room if you need to change (especially after going to the baths) grab an umbrella or a quick nap.

Vigado, stop promoting this hotel, it is NOT central. I've flagged your post as advertisement.
