We stayed at the Hotel Mikolaj just of the Rynek Glowny [Main Square]. Comfortable but not cosy - good base for exploring.

Look through some guide books for other ideas and check them on Trip Advisor.

We have stayed at Hotel Wit Stwosz at 28. Mikolajska St. each time we've visited Krakow - it's about a 5 minute walk to the Market Square, perfect location as a base for seeing the city.

It's not luxurious, is simply furnished - bed, wardrobe, table and chairs, small telly in the room with a small shower room/toilet - but it is very comfortable, warm and welcoming. The staff are excellent, - they will help to arrange any trips out of the city if you so wish - the breakfast is, again, simple (bread, cheese, meat, cereals) but enough to set you up for the day.

Double rooms are about £58.00 a night. We really like it and would always return there. Check out their website www.wit-stwosz.com.pl
