Christmas Market

Evening, am going back to Brno 25th November for a couple of days, second time this year. Can anyone help with whether or not the Christmas market will be open by then? Googling it seems to suggest in recent years it has opened on the last Friday in November.

Thanks in advance

Only know about this one in Brno exhibition centre, but opens on 9th December.

But at least you will see a Xmas tree on the main square.....from 16th November.

I am sure GCEK will confirm or refute ...shortly.

It says, Fri, Nov. 25, 2011...

When we were there a couple years ago the main square(triangle :-D) was quite busy, the usual Christmas Market with rides, food, drink and such. Typically Christmas Markets open the first day of Advent which is the 4th Sunday before 25 December. This year it will be 27 November but most of the Christmas Markets we have been to have started the Friday before to take advantage of the entire weekend.

Agreed, I'm sure GCEK will have the skinny on this one quite soon!

They open on 25th November so you're in luck and this year should be better than ever - they will even extend under the ground to the newly-opened catacombs under Zelný trh - the usual entrance fee is quite high, so this would be a good opportunity to see them. The entrance fee for the underground medieval market will only be 20 Crowns. There will also be markets on Moravské náměstí as well.

In past years they used to sell all sorts of tat, but recently they have clamped down on that sort of thing and nowadays they are one of the better markets in the region. There's also a little train for children and an animal corner for them too - and of course the obligatory blacksmith, honey wine sellers, etc.
