Malaga to Ronda

I am going to Spain for the first time this year, and want to get around Andalucia by train. Can anyone tell me whether there is definitely a direct train from Malaga to Ronda, and if so how i can find out about it? i have seen a few conflicting messages on this topic. thanks in advance

Hi Sara and Bruce. I'm pretty definite there is not a direct train to Ronda from Malaga, and that you still have to change at Bobadilla. No doubt others will come to my and your aid if this is not so.

This link below is worth a look before you go. Have a great holiday.

There are a couple of coach companies do Ronda trips by coach and rail from the western edge of Malaga i.e. Torremolinos, Benalmadena etc., One takes you on the coast road down to Algeciras, books you on the single track railway up to Ronda where you spend 3 0r 4 hours, the coach drives up to Ronda and brings you back to your pick up point. The other coach company does it the other way round. It may be best to take the coach to Ronda as the town shops, other than restaurants and souvenir shops shut for siesta. Save some money for leather shoes - great buys up there.

There are regular public buses from Malaga bus station to Ronda. Either using the inland route avoiding the coastal road (bus company Autocares Sierra de las Nieves) : http://www.pacopepe.com/es/rutas_horarios.php

or try these two companies for the main coastal road and then up the winding road behind Marbella.

The train is possible but there are only 3 trains from Bobadilla to Ronda per day I think but check www, renfe.es and you need to change so probably a wait at Bobadilla.
