On the 23rd of January, 2012 we booked a four day trip on the wanganui river with a tour operator called Blazing paddles.
We tipped with the canoe on the first day and eventually got picked up with a jet boat back to the blazing paddles offices.
During the incident we were treated awfully and extremely rudely by Blazing Paddles' owners.
That's a first time such a thing happened to us.
Luckily we met a wonderful local couple who helped us by guarding the canoe, giving us a ride back to town and confronting the Blazing Paddles owners for the bad way they had treated us.
Eventually, when we got back the owner refused to give us a refund for the three remaining days and also refused to put us back on the river saying that he can't trust us to finish the route, so he won't let us have a canoe and finally shutting the door to our faces.
We know that generally tourists don't pursue such matters and just accept the fact they were ripped off and that's the reason some tour operators allow themselves to act in such a way. That is exactly what we want to prevent.
