From Blue Mountain to Jervis Bay

We arrive in Sydney in the beginning of October. 3 nights in Sydney, then two nights near Blue Mountain. WE then want to go to Jervis Bay but want to know how do we get there from Blue Mountain. Will it be a long route or can we go there by train and hence we do not need to hire a car as we can go to Blue Mountain from Sydney by train as well.

Many Thanks

P SHah

Hi,

It would be best to hire a car and travel from Sydney to the Blue Mountains and explore the region on your own terms. From the BM continue onto Jervis Bay.

If you want to use public transport you would have to catch a train to the Blue Mountains and then go back to Central Station CBD and catch another train to Bombaderry Station - Nowra ((2 ¾ hrs) and a connecting bus to Jervis Bay.

For train info www.countrylink.com.au

Cheers,

EM ☺

Hi PShah

If you decided to hire a car to see the Blue Mountains, you could continue on your journey to Jervis Bay.

Drive straight back down the mountains and onto the motorway, and take the turn off for the Northern Road (about 5 mins or less from the base of the Mountains) until you reached Narellan (about 40 mins).

Then turn left onto Narellan Road and head towards Campbelltown (about 10 mins) then take the turn off to F5, heading towards Canberra.

You can elect to go to Jervis Bay via Canberra, or perhaps take the more scenic route and head to the coast road by following the signs to Wollongong.

Thank you.

After I posted the query, I looked at the map around the area and I figured what you just said above. It will be better for us to hire a car and do a round trip from Sydney, to Blue Mountain, to Jervis Bay as we want to then fly to Melbourne from Sydney. So if we hire a car we can then drop it off at Sydney airport before we go to Melbourne.

4. Re: From Blue Mountain to Jervis Bay

Hi again

now you just have to figure out if you want to go via the coast or through Canberra.

You could drive down through Canberra, and back up via the coast road which would allow you to see different landscapes in the country.

Go to google maps and put in your start and destination and see what it comes up with, Drag the suggested routes through places you're interested in to alter the suggested route if you like.

Happy planning

rather than heading to jervis bay via wollongong, head to nowra and jervis bay via the kangarooo valley road. it's a much more scenic route. get off the freeway (hume highway) at mittagong and follow the signs to bowral and moss vale. be sure to stop at fitzroy falls and take the short walk to the viewing platform.

Totally agree with lien above. I had to drive from Moss Vale to Kiama last week and took the Robertson to Jambaroo road (an alternative to Kangaroo Valley). This section of the Illawara escarpment has some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere and gives you an opportunity to take in Kiama, Gerringong and Berry. Either way is quite spectacular.

Yep, don't disagree with your suggestions re stopping at Fitzroy Falls. I was thinking of perhaps the easiest ways rather than the prettiest ways for the OP to get to Jervis Bay.
