Glenelg or further south ?

Hi Guys,

We are looking at travelling through Adelaide, onto Glenelg and further south in December/early January.

Having a look at accommodation in Glenelg during this time is quite pricey.

Do you have any other suggestions of a nice coastal beach/suburb heading further south rather than Glenelg? Possibly even Victor Harbour?

Also, is there much on for NYE along the beach/coast if we plan our trip for this time?

Thank you.

Glenelg has its own very big NYE celebrations. IME really the best place to be in ADL on NYE>

Depends what you are looking for. Victor Harbor is lovely but its a low key family holiday destination - certainly not party central.

Pretty busy at Glenelg that time of year but nice place to stay. NYE at Glenelg is normally the major metro destination for those who want to enjoy the atmosphere and party. Victors about an hours drive south . Really nice coastline and plenty good places to stay. Very good beaches, surfing, sunning yourself and recovering, but as already stated a bit more laid back than Glenelg

The area between Glenelg and Victor is the McLaren Vale wine area if that takes your fancy

There are plenty of holiday homes for rent along the southern coast. Look on Stayz and similar sites for homes at Aldinga, Seaford, Port Willunga, Carrickalinga, Silver Sands, Moana, Sellicks Beach and Port Noarlunga

These are coastal suburbs which have access to great beaches... Remember that Glenelg or anywhere on the South Coast (Victor Harbor etc) will be very busy at the height of holiday season. If you want a more laid back beach holiday and you have a car I would definitely consider booking a longer term holiday home.. As said above McLaren Vale and the South Coast are only a short drive from the Mid Coast region I've mentioned above.
