We are currently in the early planning stages of a trip to Queesntown in late July/early August next year and just trying to get an idea of what’s around at the moment.
There could be as little as two of us (myself and my fiancé/then husband) or as many as 10. We will be flying directly in and out of Queenstown and hiring a car. We will be there for 7 nights and have 5 day lift passes.
I’m trying to get an idea on two scenarios:
1. Just the two of us – accommodation. We would probably want to spend around $1200-$1500 for the week. We basically want the nicest accommodation we can get for our budget – we usually prefer 4 star minimum but may have to sacrifice that this trip.
We would prefer a kitchen/kitchenette, but this is not necessary. We would prefer to be in town, as even though we’ll have the car, we’ll want to have wine with dinner so don’t necessarily want to have to drive.
We DEFINITELY want lake/mountain views. What do you recommend? I don’t think we will get an apartment for our budget, so probably looking at a hotel room. We are considering upping our budget to around $1900-$2000 to be able to get an apartment. Is the area where Rydges and Breakfree The Waterfront are located easy walking distance to some nice restaurants?
2.Three or four of us in one room – 2 bedroom apartment. This will probably be a budget of $2000-$2500. Pretty much the same requirements as above, in town, lake/mountain views.
Any suggestions? Breakfree the Waterfront seems like it could be an option. I also found prices (this year’s of course) for the Rees Hotel and Luxury apts, that looks like we could get a 2 bedroom lakeview within our budget as well, but it seems a little out of town?
I appreciate any replies! Thanks :)
