May isn't a peak tourism period down here as it is starting to get cold, but also means you don't have to deal with the heat.

Must sees in Perth would include:

* check out the beaches. Might not be warm enough for a swim, but should still be able to watch surfing etc

* A visit to Rottnest

* some time spent in Fremantle

* You could check out a Fremantle Dockers or West Coast Eagles Australian Rules Football game

* There's a new rugby team here. They aren't doing well, but might have improved by May. They are called The Western Force.

* You could go north of Perth in search of warmer weather eg. Broome

* You could go to Exmouth and dive with the whale sharks

* even though it's colder at the beaches here in Winter, the waves are at their best. You could take some surfing lessons

A visit to Margaret River and the south-west is still worthwhile at this time of year. It might not be as warm, but it is still very pretty. Most young people can be found at Prevelly Beach.
