Have a look at the Mercure;

mercure.com/gb/…index.shtml

or The Oaks

http://www.oaksbroome.com.au/

or Moonlight Bay

http://www.mlb.broomeaccommodation.com.au/

These three are all close to where your friends are staying. There are others, including b and b's and resorts - some will be a little further away on the ocean side of Broome, but all within a 10 minute drive. Also have a look at the Broome Visitor Centre site for more information;

Best wishes.

Can help with quality food in town - Arli bar and Noodlefish are next to each other and serve delicious food including fresh local seafood. Lustre cafe is good too with the best pizza in town from an Italian woodfired oven. Roebuck Bay hotel bistro serves good inexpensive pub food. The Chinese restaurants in town are inexpenisve and fun, but always ask the locals which are best.
