Hi,

You have a holiday here for 12 days, driving from Melbourne to Sydney in Feb. Budget for accommodation up to £100 per night, maybe more for Sydney.

Plenty of places to drive and see, but most importantly, what are your interests? Id imagine places like Great Ocean Road would be a place recommended, and then you have a choice of travelling inland or the coastal route up to Sydney. For that duration, I think you could cover a couple of nice drives from Melbourne, and possibly include Canberra enroute to Sydney.

Just has a quick look for accommodation in Melbourne and Sydney using arbitrary dates in Feb 2014.

For your budget of £100 per night in Melbourne, the standouts are Rendezvous, and Fraser Place.

For your budget of £100 or a touch higher in Sydney, the standouts are Meriton Campbell St, and Travelodge Wynyard.

The shortest route from Melbourne to Sydney is up the Hume Highway. It's about a nine hour drive at the speed limit. A good half-way stop is Gundagai, where there are some new and some older motels.

I highly recommend the Garden Motor Inn which is straight out of a 1950s time warp. They even do meat and three veg for dinner. It could be one of the shining stars of your Aus adventure. http://www.gardenmotorinn.com.au/

Do get back to us about what you hope to do once you actually have some kind of a plan. We've just had feedback about another Syd-Mel trip and unfortunately they didn't get to see all they wanted, maybe just maybe there are some hints we can provide to try to avoid any disappointments.
