Hi,

Just a quick heads up about your enquiry.

Seaside resorts in Victoria whilst beautiful, is not what you would typically find as a luxury beach resort in the US. Technically speaking, no beachside resort in Australia holds a true "Luxury" classification in the Five Star ratings (Upscale, Upper Upscale, Luxury). In fact there's less than a dozen "Luxury" rated hotels in the whole of Australia, as traditionally accepted in worldwide ratings. Media and consumers thoroughly enjoy using this hotel descriptor, but it has no direct relevance to the rating system. So if you are looking for something like Laplaya Beach & Golf Resort, Little Palm Island Resort or Ritz Carlton Naples, you will be disappointed.

Having said all of the above, there are absolutely beautiful seaside locations and property, close enough to drive from Melbourne. A few I would recommend;

Peppers Moonah Links Resort

Whitesbeach Guesthouse

Peppers The Sands

Hi

I agree with the first person commenting.

We do not really have many "all-inclusive" resorts in Australia.

The areas around Melbourne with the most luxury acommodation are Portsea, Sorrento and Lorne.

All these areas have excellent beaches, and a choice of very good restaurants and most places can arrange spa type treatments.

If you are driving or hiring a driver and going to Portsea or Sorrento you might also enjoy the near-by wineries at Red Hill (also with top class restaurants)

It's an easy 1- 1 1/2 hr drive from Melbourne

I think KVE has nailed it.

Generally, Melburnians seeking luxury beach accommodation jump on a plane and fly to Port Douglas, Noosa, Bali, Fiji or somewhere else further north where the weather is more predictable and the water is warmer.

That being said, the places recommended above are worthy of investigation. I'd also add another Peppers property - my personal favorite since I'm not a golfer - Delgany Castle.
