Hop on Hop off Bus at Melbourne?

Is hop on hop off bus available in Melbourne for sightseeing and visiting top attractions of the city in short time? If available, is it good option? If not, then what is the better (of course inexpensive also) option to see attractions of Melbourne?

You can use the free City Circle tram or Melbourne Shuttle Bus. That also has brief commentary and you can get on and off along the way.

Thanks for information. Is it necessary to book shuttle bus or city circle tram in advance? If yes, how? From where can I get on to bus or tram?

No need to book the free service. You just wait at a designated stop. I suggest you google it for more info and stop information. It's quite easy to get around the city so you will be fine

There is a double decker Hop on/off bus starting service on May 7 as well as the free services also mentioned.

The new hop-on hop-off service that has just started in Melbourne follows an almost identical route to the free shuttle - so why would you pay about $40 AUD per person for a service that is offered for free?

Visitors to Melbourne need to be made aware that it is unnecessary to pay for a hop-on hop-off tour of Melbourne, just use the free shuttle.

You can find out more at thatsmelbourne.com.au/Gettingaroundthecity/V… for more information on the FREE service.

As has been stated, Melbourne has both the free city circle tram and the free city shuttle bus. There is no need to make any type of booking for either the free tram or free bus. Just wait at the designated stops and get on or off as often as you like.

As of September, the bus will charge $5 per adult, but children will remain free.

That's interesting about the $5 fare, Navy. Where is that publicized (I can't find it).

How are they going to charge? $5 every time you get on? $5 for a day ticket? 2 hours? Not everyone does the complete circuit. Most people use it as a HOHO service. Could be an expensive day out is you have to pay $5 every time you get back on the bus.

There was a reference in the Herald Sun to the $5 charge about 10 days ago, and it is correct. The $5 fare starting October 1 will be a daily fare, and as said above children under 5 free.

Hi,

Yes there is. It's a double decker bus like they have in most counties. It's new.

They also have a free tram and bus in the CBD.
