We hired a 4x4 Adventure Camper from Apollo in Adelaide over Christmas and New Year 2013/14. We had a very disappointing response from the staff when I used my Cash Passport Debit Card to try and avoid the Credit card surcharge. They charged the surcharge anyway with the excuse that there was no other way to get the machine to accept the transaction. I have no problem with a surcharge being charged by a firm when a Credit card is used as this is charged by the card company and the firm is just passing on the expense. I do have an issue with a firm taking a surcharge and putting it in their pocket. That seems like theft to me. We had our Camper for over two weeks, in which time I hoped they would sort it out, but no. On our return they are still blaming it on the machine. We had no issues with our Cash Passport Cards anywhere else that we used them while in Australia. When I placed this on my Apollo feed back form, Andrew Smart (Guest Relations Supervisor) contacted me and was just as unhelpful. He refused to sort the problem out or forward it to someone that could. With public forums on the web like this, I am surprised at there attitude. APOLLO LIFT YOUR GAME - taking extra money and putting in your pocket is theft as far as I am concerned. I detest thieves.
