which sea temple

Can anyone suggest which sea temple is best: Port Douglas or Palm Cove?

Both run by Mirvac Hotels and I would think run exactly the same way. The Palm Cove one is older now.

The Port Douglas Sea Temple opened it's doors last year, much newer and fresher and hasn't that concrete sterile look about it, but it really depends on location, Palm Cove is a small village, a few restaurants, a tavern, few shops one strectch of road and beach. Port Douglas is slightly bigger, with more choices. Down side the location of the Sea Temple Port Douglas is fairly isolated and at the end of 4 Mile Beach so you will need transport each time you want to go to the town itself or catch a shuttle for around $3 each way. Up side., isolated quiet end of 4 Mile Beach without the crowds and very quiet.

Haven't seen the Port Douglas one, but the rooms at the Palm Cove are very nice - our 1bedroom apartment had everything you could ask for. On the down side, it, too, is away from the centre of action and you have to walk to and from the main restaurant/shopping area. Overall, Palm Cove was a bit too quiet for me.

Sea Temple in Palm Cove is hardly old - but Palm Cove although with good beach access has much less to do than Port Douglas.

If you're paying to stay at Sea Temple, a small additional amount for a bus fare (in Port Douglas) shouldn't be a concern. The nice thing about the Port Douglas location is the beach access, and the grounds, which its out-of-Macrossan Street location make possible.

Most people would enjoy either accommodation, or a combination of both.

Thank you to all of you. We have decided to go with the Port Douglas one. Got a fantastic offer (upgrade too) on Wotif.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. Just got back from an amazing week in Port Douglas. Sea Temple was fantastic and we loved everything from the snorkelling (Calypso great - Haba a bit too busy and rushed), Chinese Junk (very romantic) and the best seafood. Can't wait to get back.
