Best Hiking Locations

Hi - I'm an avid hiker and am new to the area. What are the best hiking spots in and around Brisbane? There seem to be a lot of mountains, but they all seem very commercialized. I also don't have a car, so anywhere that I can get access to by public transport would be ideal.

Thanks!

Brisbane forest park ( …qld.gov.au/parks/daguilar/pdf/south-daguila… ) and mount Cootha ( …qld.gov.au/2010%20Library/2009%20PDF%20and%… ) are the closest and easiest to access by public transport.

You might also consider joining a local bush walking club which may help with transport issues.

I am possibly going to be visiting Brisbane later this year and if so I will also be limited to public transportation but I would love to do some hiking! Are there certain trails at either of these parks you would recommend?

Unfortunately most of the good hiking trails are not really within Public Transport access from Brisbane. The two mentioned, Mount Cootha and Brisbane Forest Park - will most likely be your best bet. A little further afield, Lamington Mountain National Park, Kondalilla National Park, Springbrook National Park are some of the best landscapes for hiking.
