I am planning a holiday in Australia in Jan of 2014. I am wondering whether it will be good idea to fly to Darwin from cairns and then take a trip down to Alice springs through the northern territory and see all the major attractions on the way? Or is the weather in Darwin so bad in January that it isn't possible to visit most of the tourist locations. I read online that a lot of places and attractions in and around Darwin are simply closed for business in January because of the bad weather conditions. If this is really true I would rather fly to Alice springs from cairns so that I can explore a bit of the Australian outback and skip Darwin altogether. This would leave me with an additional Week and a half towards the end of my trip which I can use to relax in Sydney or on the gold coast.
If the weather wasn't a factor I would definitely go for a trip to Darwin rather than relaxing somewhere on the east coast where I am already planning to spend a lot of time. I am not sure what I should do. What do you guys think?? Any suggestion or feedback would be highly appreciated
