Cockatoo Run; Riverboat Postman; Ku-ring-gai NP- Trip Report |
|
Hi everyone, well we finally went on the Cockatoo Run! We found it a very relaxing day. The trip travels for about an hour to get out of the Sydney metro section then past or through some beautiful bushland including some lovely views over the coast. The volunteer carriage attendants provide interesting information as you travel and detailed historical information on the railway line is also provided. We didn't alight at Robertson as we are in Robertson fairly frequently, but although you have the option to go on to Moss Vale it really is better to take the opportunity to explore Robertson or have a leisurely lunch there, or go to the Illawarry Fly Treetop Walk. Our day ended abruptly and we took an alternate route home before killing some time taking a jaunt out to Watson's Bay before heading to the Red Lantern in Surry Hills for dinner (superb!!). We used the city circle free bus gadding about here and there and found it a very convenient service. Next on our holidaying in Sydney initiative we went on the Riverboat Postman and for a couple of walks in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The Riverboat postman is a modest vessel that takes a leisurely trip through some beautiful scenery. An interesting commentary is provided and it is also a very relaxing way to spend a few hours. At Brooklyn (you use Hawkesbury River train station)there are tidal baths, and a nice picnic ground, so if you can get there a bit early or organise half an hour afterwards to explore just a little it is quite a pleasant spot. Ku-ring-gai Chase NP is superb. Blow by blow accounts with pictures (including the full story as to why our Cockatoo Run was cut short - you couldn't pay for such excitement...) as per usual on |

Thanks guys. I'm very glad you enjoyed it. It takes an age to do the blog, but I guess it's a way of sort of scrapbooking it and looking back it's nice to have a detailed record of our little adventures. Today I'm hoping to be off to the Degas exhibition in Canberra.. and furniture/housewares shopping in Bungendore..and maybe the National Zoo.. ..I also have a few more days activities in the pipeline for Sydney too, but true to form I haven't been on the open road for a while and I'm getting itchy feet so Canberra is calling...then again, Parking is cheaper in Sydney on a Sunday ...hmmmm | ||||||
