This will be our first visit to Monterey/Big Sur. We are staying in PG. Our anniversary is while we are there. Is there a restaurant for dinner with both a good view and good food and for maybe $200 or less (if that's doable). Seems like a lot of the places with the views don't get all that great of reviews for food and/or service. Fairly flexible on the type of food.

I presume when you say view, you mean a Bay or Ocean view but not sure what one can see at night as far as a view goes. Some of our fav places to eat in PG are Passionfish and Fandango in PG and in Monterey 1833. In Carmel we like Aubergine for a special occasion. If you want to head south east to the Carmel valley, the Bernadus lodge has a great restaurant and wine. It is in the valley with no ocean views.
You posted in the Big Sur forum. If you are staying in PG, I would not recommend driving to the Big Sur village area and then driving back all the way at night. You may want to go to Nepenthe for lunch which has amazing views. Post Ranch Inn and Ventana are amazing hotels but you may want to stay there and eat there.

What time of year is your visit? If in the summer, then Sierra Mar at Post Ranch Inn would be my rec. If in the winter months, it will get dark early, therefore, little to no views because it will be dark by dinner time.
Massaro & Santos gets high marks by the locals for great food at reasonable prices and every table has a view of the water. Pacific's Edge at the Highlands Inn in the Carmel Highlands and Schooner's Coastal Kitchen at the Monterey Plaza Hotel are additional fine dining options with water views.
