My daughters would love to get their hair braided when we stay at the Barcelo Colonial but have heard that it is much cheaper to go into Playa to have it done. Can anyone recommend a shop to go to there? How much does it generally cost? Can you take the bus there or should we taxi? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Playa is much cheaper... There are a number of street vendors that offer the service. Ask for a price and then negotiate... Someone in our group got a partial braid (front quarter of head) for $10 U.S.

Make sure you confirm the price and the options...

Taxi will run you about $16. You can take the collectivo (bus) small vans for $2 per person.. you just walk out of the resort to the road (you can get a golf cart ride to the gate) and catch the bus there. Just remember where they let you off as that is where you pick it up to come back and you just tell the driver Barcelo and he stops out front.

Did you end up getting hair braiding? Does anyone know how much it is right at the Colonial? We would like to have it done for our daughter the first day but don't want to have to travel into Playa on the first day.

When we stayed at the Iberostar .We had it done on the beach I can't recal how much but to me it was worth the extra 15 $ or whatever it was to bask in the sun in a near by cabanna and relaxing while she had her hair done . In Playa del Carman...you'll want to shop not stand there for 20 min. and you can't leave her there .Sorry that I can't recall the prices .....I hope this helped.
