“Mouldy shoes “sorry madam, it’s the weather””

I'm sorry this couple had a bad vacation but the review was a little crazy and just made me laugh. I thought it was the French who hated Americans.

I have a little sympathy with this lady, though she seems to have let it spoil her holiday, which is a shame.

When we were there last year there was a group of noisy and rude Americans there who seemed to want to let us all in on their personal secrets and habits.

Surprisingly this was mostly women, who appeared to be not much more than there to please their men.

I must say I found it rather distasteful, but did not let it spoil what was a wonderful holiday.

I tend to agree with usm as these people profess to be repeat guests and they let some issues get them down.

I can see what he means about some guests from the US who as they are only there for a few days as they do tend to go at everything at 100mph - we met some at EPM. Yes Brits and other nationalities get drunk and are loud as well but this couple let a group of people get them down.

Also if you are at a resort for 14 nights if anything does go wrong it tends to build the longer you are there.

TA is all about free speech

I just read this review also....... And to be honest.... people who group people into categories are really being ignorant. "All Americans...." blah blah blah.......

Not all Americans are drunk and loud and grind against the bar poles..... infact while we were there we ran into two couples who were visiting all swimup bars and downing 2 tequilas at each..... we were their 7th stop..... they "happened" to be from London and were on a 14 day vacation and were on day number 1. They were loud and rude.... and one of the gentlemen had to carry his significant other in and out of the pool because she could not do so herself....... I would never think that "All British" people were like this.

And as for moldy shoes......... GROSS! Maybe the person brought the nastiness with them... throw your shoes away and soak your feet in something that kills germs. Thanks for sharing.......

We had a fabulous time there.... there was not a mold issue or the a/c being too cold.... it was nice to walk in from blinding humidity to a cool room. And some American women have the decency to enjoy "poles" in privacy... I know I do. =)

Although I believe negative reviews have as much of a place on TA as the more frequent positive ones, this one made me laugh out loud.

I find it a trifle difficult to take this one with more than a rather large pinch of salt. The just joined only one post thing rings a somewhat dull note too.

If genuine I apologise, but for goodness sake chill before you stroke out.

Some people let loose different then others. I have been known from time to time to get drunk and be loud and obnoxious. Most people have been" That Guy or Girl". Its happens to the best of us not just Americans.

Its a vacation and not everyone goes down there to be in peace and quite. I think if its the loud ask then to keep it down politly or better yet move on to another pool there are plenty of them throught the resort and many of the casita pools sit empty or near empty all day.

I notice its usually the first or second day people kinda get wild and do things they normally wouldnt do and then after that they usually chill out. I know we do. In Mexico the first night is tequila night and then we all wake up the next morning wondering which way that bus went that ran us over.

Same for Punta Cana and Mamajuana.First night we did countless shots of it celebrating with other vacationers but then the rest of the week it was more relaxed.

If people are more worried about what others are and arent doing are they really on vacation?

I wouldnt wanna waste my hard earned vacation people watching Americans who these people obviously dislike.

These arent the type of people we would spend out time getting to know.

I find this so odd that people seriously think all americans are like this. Such a shame. I can drink and party with the best of them- when we are at Coco Bongo or Senor Frogs and EVERYONE else is doing the same...but at the resort I have a few drinks, read a book, relax, have conversation with my husband by the pool. I am not one to get drunk, to swing on poles or to start chatting it up with other guests...when I am on vacation I really don't want to spend time with anyone but my husband. We prefer to be alone and have peace and quiet. I know many americans that are like us too!

We have never noticed this type of behavior at any resort before-whether that be AI, in the US or not. I also haven't read much of anything about this issue occuring at EDR- so I am wondering if it's that bad. My guess is there were a few bad apples- maybe 6-8 guests out of the 100s that were there.

I agree with Flip that TA is a forum for free speech, but I disagree with how the reviewer slagged EDR and gave it such a poor rating just because they didn't approve of the actions of a few people!

It had nothing to do with the resort, as you will find those hardy partiers at any vacation location anywhere in the world.

It's one thing to be truly unhappy with the resort itself, i.e. food, accommodations, service etc, then the rating is where it belongs, but if you need to vent about the types of vacationers or things beyond the resorts control, then it should be on the forum where the rating doesn't affect the resort itself.

Phew!! There, I feel better now! :-)

we were ther in July and there were lots of groups of Americans partying. They seemed to arrive for a few days and cut loose! One night they were a bit fun loving and smashed a bottle by mistake at my feet in Guacamas but apologised and apologised.....

They are on holiday!

The reviewer needs to go on a retreat up a bog in Ireland, Ireland, Ireland.

I've been its boring. Pina Coladas are bad.

M from Ireland.

with parents/grandparents/brothers who are Irish, Irish Irish.

YIKES!! What a review. Not even sure HOW to comment on it. Crazy that anyone would allow other people on vacation, just having fun, to ruin their own vacation!

I'm thinking a hotel with 600 rooms may not be the right vacation choice in the future for this couple:)

As far as the shoes go...a good friend always says to me.....TOO MUCH INFORMATION:)
