Jerez Transportation

My friends and I are planning on visiting Jerez for a long weekend but can't seem to find any information on the bus or train system there. If we stayed in Cadiz along the beach is it easy to get there from the Jerez airport? And if we stayed in the city of Jerez is there a way to reach the beach for a day trip without renting a car? Thanks!

There is a bus service that runs from Jerez airport into Jerez town (the bus station is next door to the train station) and some buses will carry on to El Puerto and Cadiz. So depending on your itinerary, you can probably take a bus easily into Jerez from the airport. The taxi service is good too and it shouldn't cost more than Euros 15 for all 4 into Jerez. It's not at all far.

The Cadiz Bay transport is now under one 'hat' called CMTBC and the airport service is :

If you stay in Jerez and want the beach then the nearest one is at El Puerto de Santa Maria. The 'town beach' where locals will visit especially during July/August called La Puntilla is at the end of the river Guadelete that flows into the Bay. If you get to El Puerto on the train or bus just follow the river until you find the beach - it's quite a long walk - but interesting. Look at a map of El Puerto and other info on the town's website: www.elpuertosm.es

We have just returned from staying in Jerez and found it very easy to travel by public transport, and cheap. The train and bus stations are next to each other and you can walk to them in ten minutes from the centre of town. We went to El Puerto de Santa Maria and Chipiona beaches, the first by train and the second by bus. I would recommend Chipiona as easy to get to the beach once you are there - ten minutes walk from the bus station - and the beach is fabulous. It is very easy to get to lots of places from Jerez, including Cadiz. You won't be disappointed.
