I live in Malta myself. St Julians is a lovely area. In fact I go there every time I can for an hourly walk. I love viewing the promenade while keeping my self fit. Appearently this is not just my idea as tourists and locals walk and jog along the sea side continiously.
If you are comming alone and you dont mind driving , i suggest you rent a car. Malta is rather small and you can get anywhere in 30 mins (if not travelling during rush hours).
If you like salsa you can go to fuego which is the place few mins away mentioned in the above forum.
I personally recommend dining at some of the restaurants there are in st julians on the front. They are rather good and view is great. As for the price, they are medium priced , not to cheap but affordable.
If you are renting a car, get a map and go around the island. I suggest you go to the north area Bugibba and Mellieha (which is further up from bugibba) There are also awsome places in the south area which is quiter than st julians (middle area) and the north.
For restaurants guide try restaurantsmalta.com....this site rates the best out of the best recommendations and do not go wrong. I personally have this guide which I also use.
If you go to gozo, a small island beside malta try the fish...and pasta..yummy
Hope you enjoy your stay
