fly into Shannon, looking at first 2-nites in Lahinch, but so far all B&B's contacted are not available. Suggestions for another town, same area (so. of cliffs) on/very close to sea to stay that has charactor (though they all seem to have charactor) Will get up to Doolin later so want to stay so. of the cliffs but in this area. |

Try Liscannor. A couple of nice pubs, a couple of nice seafood places, only a few minutes from Lahinch. If you have no joy there, look at Ballyvaughan.

You might also look at Cree or Doonbeg, really anywhere south west. It would give you a good platform to explore some great beaches(Quilty, Kilkee, White Strand etc) golf, scenery & pubs - particularly Loop head - fantastic scenery with great villages, like Carrigaholt in Loop Head. http://walshspub.westclare.net/wa2.htm http://www.crottyspubkilrush.com/ Golf in Doonbeg, Spanish point, Kilkee & Kilrush. tripadvisor.com/Travel-g186595-c51809/County… Spanish point / Milltown malby area is closer to Lahinch - and still easy access to those places above. Maybe consider staying over on Inis Oirr as an alternative? Twenty minutes by ferry, another short drive - and you'd be in Lahinch.

We just got back from a glorious week in Ireland and spent 3 nights in Lahinch at the Willow Lodge. http://homepage.eircom.net/~willowlodgeclare/ Felicity, the proprietress was wonderful and her home had that older home charm with beautiful antiques.

Liscannor is approx 2 miles further along on the sea - great seafood restaurant and pubs of course.

We just returned from a 2 week trip and one of our top 2 b&bs was Berry Lodge, Spanish Point/Miltown Malbay. Beautiful house, Rita, the owner has lived in the house since 1942, she has made some great updates to bring it up to modern standards. Each room has a beautiful view. Tea and scones upon arrival and her breakfast could not be beat. We hope to return next year and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Did you try Craglea Lodge in Lahinch? Liscannor is closer to the cliffs than Lahinch, also on the coast. Yummy seafood at Vaughan's. We also noticed many farm-style B&Bs between Liscannor and the cliffs, some advertising their views.
