We're planning on staying near Sarlat in september and will be getting the ferry over from Ireland. The options are to land in Roscoff or Cherbourg, and I'm trying to find out which would get us there quicker.
Google maps and Via Michelin are telling me that either route would take roughly 8 hours (Roscoff a bit longer).
In the past it has taken us closer to 13 hours to get down from Roscoff, and that's driving at the speed limit wherever possible, with a minumum of stops - maybe a couple of half-hour loo breaks and a sandwich in an aire.
Are the route planners really so inaccurate, or do my husband and my dad really drive that slowly?!
And has anyone done the drive from Cherbourg? It's decades since any of my family have done it so I don't know what the roads are like, or if it's likely to be quicker than the Roscoff route.
