day trip to viareggio

When you arrive in Viareggio how do you find a place to rent you chairs and umbrellas? Should I call a hotel in advance? Any names?

Not sure what your plans are but don't miss Lucca -a fabulous town with the walls still intact and is very close to Via Reggio-by bus or train. Also you are not far from Pisa-IMO a great day trip and also easy to access via public transport!

Of course, if you have time, you must visit Pisa and Lucca! But if you stay in Viareggio for a short time and you prefer staying on the beach, you can also pass an afternoon or an evening in Pietrasanta, at 10 minutes of train from Viareggio! it is a very nice town, if you go at evening there are also a lot of little restaurant... but, if you go by train, pay attention to the train schedule, because there are few trains in the evening for the return! www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp…

My wife and I are planning to spend 4-5 days in viareggio on a bit of a splurge vacation - Grand Hotel Principe Di Piemonte - in late April, 2013 followed by another 3-4 days near Sienna and then 7 days in Rome. Wondering about weather in viareggio at that time of the year and if we might run into restaurants parts of the hotel operation, or other activities not yet being fully opened
