public transport

We like to get about by rail or public buses rather than organised tours. Is there a Railway/Bus Station in town to various places that are worthy of a visit please

Bus times to June 30 here www.vaibus.com/pdf/Extraurbano4feb13.pdf Later ones not yet available.

There is a train station (Camaiore Lido), with regular direct trains to Pisa and la Spezia, and less frequent direct trains to Florence and Sestri Levante. Nearby Viareggio has a much better train service with more frequent and faster trains. See www.trenitalia.com for times, using a date before June 9 as later dates are not yet online, and a date this week to see all fares.

We returned from Lido di Camaiore this week and used the bus to travel to Pisa and Lucca. The bus timetables are shown at the bus stops and the buses run every hour and every two hours on a Sunday. Allow about 10 minutes before the time especially at quieter times of day in case the bus comes early.

You can also catch the bus from Lido directly to Pisa airport.

Hello. Is the bus stop at Pisas airport easy to get to once you land? I'm going to be traveling in early August (5 adults, 2 you g children and probably 3 suitcases) and am wondering if the bus would be a good option to get to our hotel at Lido. Also, can you tell me how long it took from the airport to Lido? Thank you.

It takes about 1hour 15 . Obviously much cheaper than a taxi or transfer but if you have had a long flight it maybe better to get a transfer especially with two young children. You could use the bus to go back to the airport.
