Places To See By Bus/Train-Info On Pisa & Florence Also

We are planning on staying in FDM in September.

I can see that you can get to Viareggio and Lucca by Train from FDM, but if I wanted to see Pisa and Florence, where would i get the train from, and roughly how long does it take ?

Alternatively, can you book excursions to Pisa and Florence once in FDM, and does anyone know approx costs, please ?

Any info on any other places worth seeing and easy to get to would be appreciated.

You can use the regional train system to visit places of interest, Pisa, Florence and Siena as well as Lucca www.trenitalia.it/homepage_en.html

Check train times over the next seven days, noting where you have to change trains.

Hi! As you can see on the trainitalia web-site, you can use train to go both to Florence and to Pisa.

Journey from FdM to Pisa lasts about 35 minutes without changes.

The travel to Florence instead has a change in Viareggio or Pisa and lasts about 100-120 minutes.

Also going to Lucca you have to change in Viareggio.

Consider that the train station is not in Forte dei Marmi, but in Querceta, a near town, so not so easy to reach without car.

Buses are perhaps more convenient from FdM: they reach Viareggio, Lucca, Florence and Pisa (changing in Viareggio). Here there is the bus map www.vaibus.com/pdf/rete/rete_extraurbana.pdf

and here the timetable www.vaibus.com/pdf/libretto_Extraurbano.pdf

(line Q01 to Lucca and Florence and Q24 to Pisa).

For more information you can surely ask to your hotel! Enjoy your holiday!
