Deli's or Specialist Welsh Cheese and Beer Shops

I was wondering are there any really good Deli's or Specialist Welsh Food and Drink shops or outlets in the Llandudno region or elsewhere in North Wales. I like trying different Cheeses, Breads, Beers and Wines, so suggestions would be helpful. I'll be staying near Abergele!

Conwy Fine Wines on the High Street in nearby Conwy. Lots of specialist beers from around the world in there.

Cheers for that. Are there a reasonable number of shops in Conway? I'm going with my lad but he's in a Wheelchair! Many Thanks!

Most of the big chain stores are in Llandudno or in Llandudno Junction (which is just over the river from Conwy). The town is famous for it's castle, town walls and the smallest house in the UK. As a result it's full of tourist shops with a mini-mart in the High Street, a couple of bakeries, a chippy and some banks and the wine shop.

Conwy is not the easiest place to manouver a wheelchair as the pavements are quite narrow and very close to a busy road running through ,LLandudnos streets are much wider .There is also the Hambone Deli on LLoyd Street next to HSBC ,they have a good choice from various parts of the world..

Betws y coed has a few specialist shops selling bread and cheeses.

Cheers for that, ive seen the Hambone Deli when ive been before, it doesn't have a great range of cheeses unfortunately. I know Llandudno pretty well having had holidays there and in Rhyl on and off since early Childhood really. But have noticed that there arnt many specialist Welsh Food shops in the area, so was hoping that perhaps there were some nearby that i might have missed.

Must admit, apart from the obvious areas, lots of North Wales is a little hard going for Wheelchair users, but we still love to visit every year.

You could always try contacting Tourist Information in Llandudno and Conwy who may be able to offer suggestions. As you've already discovered North Wales isn't really into delis and gourmet food.

Are you likely to get as far as Porthmadog in your travels?

If so there is Purple Moose Brewery and shop based there.I can recommend their beers which are excellent. Spooner's Bar on Ffestiniog Railway Station in Pothmadog usually has some on draught.

Thanks Eleanor, prob not make Porthmadog on this trip, ive been a few times in the past when we stayed nearer there, but didn't know about that Brewery, so thats certainly one for a future visit. You dont know if any outlets stock their beers further North by any chance?

Hello Taggy

If you can make it to Llanrwst, there is a good deli there called Blas ar Fwyd - their website gives you a good idea of what they sell too. Their restaurant, Amser Da, is excellent, and just across the road from the deli.
