Hello,
The two of us plan to take the train from Oslo to Bergen on July 28th. We would like to see both Alesund and Trondheim. We need to be back in Bergen to catch our flight to Stockholm on Aug. 3rd at 12:15. My research has led me to believe that the train ride from Oslo to Bergen is a must. So, we have 6 days to get to know the Western coast after we will have spent the 24th to the 28th in Oslo. I would like to confirm reservations and book travel but am uncertain how we can see all three coastal locations in 6 days. Are we trying to do too much and should we eliminate either Alesund or Trondheim? We have made a list of the reasons we should visit both and don't know which to choose if we must. We enjoy culture, history, and nature. We visit an aquarium in every country we visit. We are both divers. We are in our 40s. I personally adore seafood. I was able to find very reasonable airfare to and from Bergen and Trondheim as opposed to spending 1 day and 5 hours on the Coastal Express. I have not found any way to get from Bergen to Alesund other than the Coastal Express (pricey) for 15 hours or the bus for 10 hours and there was a mention of delays due to a bridge being under construction. Our goal was to see the Fanafolklore Program in Bergen which is evidently only on Thursday or Friday evening of the 31st or the 1st. Is this worth it and does it need to be booked in advance? We could take the train from Oslo to Trondheim if the ride is equally lovely and recommended. What do you think? Then perhaps you could recommend how we could get from Trondheim to Alesund easily. If this is not doable then we could fly from Trondheim to Bergen. Perhaps there is a train from Oslo to Alesund if you think we should skip Trondheim but then we still do not know how to get from Alesund to Bergen. We could still fly to Stockholm from Bergen on the 3rd. There are flights out on the 2nd as well. Everything is reserved but nothing is confirmed and we are growing concerned that we will miss out if we don't book soon. We were planning on flying Norwegian Air on the coast and then SAS to Stockholm. We would really appreciate any advice to help us finish our plans. if you tell us to scrap both towns and head to Nordkapp we could do that too. Finally, I am trying to locate a foreign exchange student who stayed with me when I was a teenager. Ranveig Arskog is from Lote, near Nordfyordeid, but I don't know how near this is to the places I have mentioned. Hopefully I have given enough details. Takk, Voyageusedumonde
