I am wanting some help to plan a trip for myself and my 16 yearold son to Norway, Sweden and Finland in 2014. As we are Australians we would like to see some snow but do not want to go when it is bitter ly cold and dark. We are thinking of travelling for 3 weeks sometime between July and August. I am not sure of the best way to get there as airfares are costly and all the flights from our part of the world take a loooong time. I think we will fly into London and then over to one of the countries. I have a few specific questions but would appreciate any advice as we cannot get any brochures easily in Australia to try to develop an itinerary.
My questions are
1. Where is the best place to get some idea about the vikings?
2. Are there hostels in these countries that are OK for an oldy like me, 54 years old,to stay at?
3. Can some one plaese explain about the train fares, I looked on the net and got confused at the options?
4. Is the time of year we are considering feasible and is 3 or 4 weeks enough time?
Any advice is great as apart from wanting to find out about the vikings and to travel above the arctic circle we don't know too much about what is the best plan.
